Our beginnings were small. A handful of families, a shared meal, a commitment to show up. Today that same spirit shapes every program we run, in classrooms, gardens, and community gatherings across the region.

How Fondation Yaël started.
Fondation Yaël Soleil Levè began with a belief that children and families in Haiti deserve the same access to education, dignity, and opportunity as anyone, anywhere. What started as informal support for a small group of families grew into a structured foundation as the need and the community around it kept growing.
The name Soleil Levè means “the sun has risen” in Haitian Creole. It is a reflection of what we hope every family we work with will feel. That a new day, and a new set of possibilities, is genuinely within reach for them.
What we believe, and how we work.
Through our programs, we support learning and creativity with education and the arts, help individuals gain practical skills through sewing and vocational training, and provide food aid to families facing difficult circumstances.
We also work alongside communities through development initiatives that strengthen daily life and create pathways toward greater independence. Our agriculture program plays a vital role in this vision by helping communities grow more of what they need and achieve greater food autonomy.

Where we’re headed.
We’re currently laying the groundwork to grow our ability to support women, children, and families in the community. As that foundation is built, we’re continuing our day-to-day programs of schooling, sewing, women’s empowerment, and community & agriculture support allowing us to build the systems that will let us grow responsibly alongside the community we serve.

Through sewing and vocational training, we help individuals build practical, marketable skills. These programs are designed to create real pathways toward income and independence.
Women’s Empowerment

Our women’s empowerment initiatives build confidence, community, and opportunity for the women at the center of so many households we work with. Regular community support meetings create a space for connection, encouragement, and shared problem-solving.
Community & Agriculture
Food aid, shared meals, and growing what we need.
Our agriculture program helps communities grow more of what they need, building toward greater food autonomy. Alongside it, we provide food aid and community meals for families facing difficult circumstances, and run agriculture education workshops that pass practical growing knowledge on to the next generation.
